Privacy notice
Your privacy matters.
This notice explains what PheNature collects, why it is used and the choices available to you.
Data controller: Lisa Birkett trading as PheNature, Technology House, 9 Newton Place, Glasgow, G3 7PR. Contact: hello@phenature.co.uk.
Information we use
We may receive your name, email address, purchase and refund details, rewards balance, account identity, email-update consent, app test volunteer details, book review, chosen community display name, forum posts, replies, reports and messages sent to us. Community contributions may contain health or other sensitive information that you choose to share.
Why we use it
We use information to fulfil purchases, operate rewards, collect and moderate genuine reviews, provide signed-in community features, moderate content, respond to enquiries, prevent misuse, keep required business records and protect users. We rely on contract, legal obligation and legitimate interests where appropriate. We rely on your explicit consent for email updates, publication of a submitted book review and sensitive personal information you choose to place in the community.
Analytics and cookies
With your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand visits, page views, scrolling and outbound-link activity so we can improve the website and its resources. Google may set analytics cookies and process technical information such as device, browser and approximate location data. Analytics stays off unless you select “Accept analytics” in the website notice. You may decline without losing access to the site. To change your choice later, clear this website’s stored data in your browser and the notice will appear again. Learn more about how Google uses information from sites using its services.
My Reading Nest
The optional PDF reader saves books, cover previews and reading position in your browser on your device. Imported PDFs are not uploaded to PheNature or connected to your purchase account. The reader does not ask for a child’s name or account and does not include analytics. Offline app files are cached on your device. Remove individual books in the reader or clear this website’s browser data to remove its stored bookshelf. Keep your original PDFs because browser storage may be cleared or lost.
Book reviews
If you submit a review, we store your display name, email, chosen perspective, star rating, review text, consent and submission date. Your email remains private. After moderation, your display name, perspective, rating and review may be published on the relevant book page. You can withdraw publication consent by emailing hello@phenature.co.uk.
Email updates
If you join PheNature updates, we store your email address, consent status, signup source and date so we can send news about books, the app and free resources. Joining is optional and does not affect access to the free printable. You can withdraw consent at any time by using an unsubscribe link in a message or emailing hello@phenature.co.uk.
App test volunteers
If you volunteer for the Walk With Phoenix Android test, we store your name, Google account email, consent and signup date to arrange the closed test and ask for feedback. This does not subscribe you to general updates. You can withdraw or ask us to delete your details by emailing hello@phenature.co.uk. We remove volunteer details when the test and follow-up are complete unless we need a limited record to honour a withdrawal.
Who receives it
Relevant information may be handled by service providers supporting website hosting, account sign-in, analytics, payments, digital delivery, email and secure business administration. Approved reviews are publicly visible, and approved community content is visible to signed-in community members. We do not sell personal information.
Retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the stated purpose, legal records, disputes and safety. Email consent records are retained while you are subscribed and as reasonably needed to honour an unsubscribe request. Review submissions, rejected content, reports and moderation records are reviewed and removed when no longer reasonably required. Purchase records may need to be retained for tax and accounting purposes.
Your choices and rights
You may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or object to certain uses. You can withdraw consent at any time, although this does not make earlier lawful use unlawful. Email hello@phenature.co.uk. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
Children
The Parent Community and book-review form are for adults aged 18 and over. Contributors must not publish information that identifies a child. PheNature books may be intended for children, but purchases, email signups and community accounts are for adults.
Security and changes
We use access controls, moderation and limited data collection to reduce risk. No online system is completely risk-free. This notice will be updated when services, providers or legal requirements change.
